Top 10 reasons why Henry and Aaron lost Webfest

Tags: ,

1. They don’t have clean chain of title (as reported by Encore magazine). Their ‘copyright’ resembles a 6 day old plate of spaghetti marinara. Details here.

2. Jimmy The Exploder’s lawyer and publicist would reluctantly have got medieval on Webfest’s ass (and would do the same to anybody who attempts to exploit his intellectual property without his express written authority).

3. Their dishonest sycophant of a ‘publicist‘ is really just Henry’s girlfriend. A few local journos have been stung by not checking their facts upon receiving bogus press releases.

4. ALL the footage in the Webfest trailer is merely recycled from an unsuccessful 2y.o. sitcom directed by Zak Hilditch (an experienced filmmaker with 3 feature films under his belt) NOT ‘up and coming filmmakers Henry and Aaron’ as falsely claimed.

5. Henry is clearly a KFC eater.

6. They don’t have clean chain of title.

7. They finished an embarrassing 8th in Webfest with 3,578 votes ( 15,000 (FIFTEEN FUCKING THOUSAND!!!) votes less than leader Johnny Beretta on 17,820)

8. Aaron is an alleged [REMOVED BY AUTHOR] (say that really fast and see what you get). If you were to ask around you might hear allegations he [REMOVED BY AUTHOR]  someone leaving bite marks. The alleged victim was distraught enough to leave the country.

9. They DO NOT have clean chain of title. Demand to sight a release form .

10. Numbers 1-9 not withstanding, toothpaste on a slab of cheese just Ain’t. That. Funny.

[Henry and Aaron are fictional characters AND all of the above (excluding the facts about the illegitimacy of the Movie Extra Webfest entry) are opinion only. Ask around and find out for yourself. Most importantly FACT CHECK press releases if you receive them. Have a nice day!]

    I rather like KFC.

I hope that doesn’t disqualify me in my future attempts at celluloid glory.

    didn’t they win?

  4. Misty B says:

But they won? Oh I see what you did there! Movie Extra must be on crack

  5. Travis Fontaine says:

Webfest aren’t allowing negative comments on their facebook page. I’d like them to state for the record that the Henry Aaron material wasn;t directed by this other guy

  6. Shaun Britain says:

other entrants have been posting links to this all day and asking wtf? then its been taken down as have other criticisms.

now theres discussion on the page + turns out marc fennell one of THE judges has been pluggin the series in the lead up to the judging on his blog and twitter. how can that happen?

  7. jeff says:

what other guy? wasn’t it directed by Zak Hilditch??

  8. no means no says:

this creep is definitely a disgusting rap artist as you put it. he is not welcome in the homes or businesses of this girl’s wide circle of friends. he is a predator who we warn our friends about

  9. Gyton Grantley says:

So, whats being done about this? Are you fighting them?

  10. Why did I waste my time voting? says:

This is the most absurd decision I’ve ever seen. Even before I was aware of this copyright dispute I was baffled. I mean the judge Marc Fennell pimping them on his blog a few days earlier – what’s with that?

Don’t tell us to vote then ignore us. Shame Movie Extra. Shame.

  11. georgia says:

You should post this on the Webfest facebook page so people know whats going on

  12. ben says:

This project is hanging around like a bad smell. And who cares about $50,000? FTI gives out more money for shorts. Yawn.

  13. sam kennedy says:

hey what happened to my last post man. yeah totally tell movie extra about this, or better still the ABC news, those guys were on the TV and i’m sure the journo’s want to know about this.

  14. unimpressed says:

when did they steal the idea off you? can you give us more details?

@ben FTI gives out 2 lots of 30,000 funding for a short up to 10min, not a TV series.

@everyone on the net: why hasn’t something been done about this? Jimmy’s been talking about it for ages, surely SOMETHING would of been done by now

  15. SB says:

i’m sick of webfest censoring our feedback and have created a page devoted to the open discussion about this confusing result:

  16. Casey says:

I just read the terms and conditions of Webfest and found the following:

“3.d.c. The Participant must have made the Trailer specifically for this Competition and the Trailer MUST NOT BE MADE AVAILABLE BY OR ON BEHALF OF THE PARTICIPANT TO, OR BE VIEWED BY, ANY MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC (this includes online viewing, but excludes viewing by cont…ributors to the Trailer), before or after being submitted to this Competition. The Participant must also not have given or give permission for anyone else to use the Trailer in any way (including contributors to the Trailer). For the avoidance of doubt the Trailer cannot have been part of any other film-making or other competition, or have been broadcast or performed in any medium (other than privately by the Participant, on a confidential basis).”

The Henry and Aaron trailer was from a pilot which def screened in Perth. My friends have seen it. These guys should never have been allowed in this competition in the first place. It is crystal clear from the T&C’s. Which is really a shame because they are obviously quite talented.

  17. ken m says:

was dubious about all this conjecture but its def in there in the rules http://apps.facebook.com/moviewebfest/termsofuse

  18. kim says:

when did he say they stole the idea? an idea is very different than getting it into shape for distributors or networks! i’m a tv producer and if i worked on a series for 6 months and pitched it to the ABC i’d be livid if they tried to move forward without acknowledging or compensating me. i am very surprised movie extra haven’t sorted this one out.

  19. PAC says:

I know Henry and Aaron through PAC Screen Workshops and Annie Murtagh-Monks congratulated them some time ago for producing the pilot in question. I’m not sure if they lied on their application form or they didn’t read the rules properly but it is common knowledge that Zak directed it and this is what was cut up for the trailer. It would be very easy for them to prove otherwise by showing both the pilot and the trailer. If they are going to lie about this I assume they are lying about the copyright situation as well.

  20. david lightfoot says:

was jimmy the producer at some stage? the answer is clearly yes. nobody is arguing that he was never on board. do the right thing.

  21. Phil says:

Jimmy is a dangerous foe. He may come across as a joker but he knows EXACTLY what he’s doing. He’s relentless. I’m scared for you guys.

  22. ungrateful says:

henry and aaron were nothing before jimmy got involved

  23. daniel f says:

LOL. so Jimmy is some kind of criminal mastermind then?

  24. Haha says:

    Or Jesus.

  25. fti anon says:

the pilot people are talking about exists and was entered into the wa screen awards run through the film and television institute of wa. i can confirm it contains the footage from their webfest trailer. it was withdrawn as an entry into the awards as soon as jimmy the exploder started making these claims. movie extra have some explaining to do.

  26. finallist says:

after 2 weeks of virtually no YouTube hits someone bought thousands of hits for the henry aaron youtube trailer from a 3rd party company.

click the statistics graph on their trailer and it is plain as day.

wish we’d knew that this was possible at the time :(

  27. stumped! says:

You know it seems kind of strange that MOVIE EXTRA have alienated such a prominent producer. Be keen to to hear what measures they took to appease him. Surely it would have been sensible to try avert all this controversy? This blog is the first google search that comes up for the show now. Stumped.

  28. Meh says:

sucky situation but you should take it as a compliment those dishonest pricks based their major character on you. you win even if the final product is shit (like it inevitably will be!)
